Twin Blossom Woven Silver Collar Necklace
Worn at the hollow of the throat, where the light finds it first.
There is a moment, just before an evening begins, when a woman fastens nothing and simply lifts a collar to her throat. The Twin Blossom Woven Silver Collar Necklace was made for that moment. A single band of hand woven 925 sterling silver, drawn as fine as a ribbon, curving to the shape of the neck and opening at the front, where two marquise cut blossoms turn slowly toward one another.
It is worn close and high, so that it moves as she moves and gathers the light with her. Against bare skin it is a thread of silver. Against black velvet it becomes the whole of the evening.
The Blossoms
Two flowers, hand set with marquise cut cubic zirconia, facing each other across the open front and never quite meeting. A small and deliberate distance, and it is what gives the collar its grace.
The Weave
The band is basket woven by hand, strand over strand, in the manner Anatolian silversmiths have kept for generations. Silver worked this way does not lie flat the way cast silver does. It carries light along its whole length, softly, so the collar reads as a line of light rather than a piece of metal. Nothing fastens, and nothing needs to. The collar eases open, settles against the skin, and stays.
